Cross-Examination Debate Results

The Springlake-Earth Cross-Examination Debaters competed at Smyer High School on Saturday, February 5, 2000. Matthew and Clay won first place with 7-0 ballots. This is their third year in a row to advance to the state competition in Austin, which will be March 12 this year. They will try to pick up where they left off the previous year when they won fifth place at state.

Carrie and Sheena were first time participants in district competition and won second place, losing only to their teammates, Matthew and Clay. They will also advance to state competition in Austin.

The S-E debaters would like to thank the many people who have supported the debate teams, and they will try to defend the state championship that was won by Springlake-Earth last year.

The debate teams are coached by Mrs. Barbara Huckabee.
