Sheena spent April 19-21 in Houston at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America State Leadership Conference. She participated in a STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition) Event. The STAR Event of her choice was an Illustrated Talk, "Time Management." This event required a 5-10 minute speech over any subject relevant to Consumer & Family Sciences.

The theme of the State Meeting this year was "FCCLA: In a League of It's Own." It was an action packed two-half days, full of State Event Competition, House of Delegates' meetings, General Sessions, workshops, and elevation of next years' state officers.

Keynote speakers included Dustin Kinder, the President of the Texas FFA Chapter, Kelli Brown, a former FFA National President, and Keith Davis, a former New York Giant.

Although Sheena didn't advance to national competition in the STAR event this year, she intends to advance next year.
