In this course, students study the history of the United States since Reconstruction to the present. Historical content focuses on the following:

• political
• economic
• social events
• issues industrialization
• urbanization issues
• major wars
• domestic policies of the Cold War and post-War eras
• foreign policies of the Cold War and post-War eras
• reform movements including civil rights

Students examine the impacts of the following:

• geographic factors of major events
• constitutional issues on American society
• dynamic relationship of the three branches of the federal government

Students analyze the following:

• causes and effects of the Great Depression
• efforts to expand the democratic process
• impact of technological innovations on the American labor movements
• relationship between the arts and the times during which they were created

In United States History, students use critical thinking skills to explain and apply different methods that historians use to interpret the past, including points of view and historical context.
