Process Speeches
Purpose: To provide students with experience in public speaking.

A process speech is one which
- gives directions on how to do something
- or how to make something
- or that explains how something works.

Procedure:
- Choose a topic that interests you and that you already know something about.
- Choose a topic you will feel comfortable demonstrating.
- Organize your speech in chronological order since they focus on the steps of the process.
- Adapt your speech to your audience by including important details, concentrating on essentials, relating information to your audience's existing knowledge, and using appropriate language.
- Be sensitive to audience feedback.
- Have the necessary supplies for each person in the class to participate.
- Obtain permission if you need to use other equipment or rooms, such as basketballs, or the gym or home economics kitchen.

Assignment:
- Write and deliver a process (how to) speech on whatever topic you choose.
- The speech will be at least three minutes in length. You must demonstrate the topic with visual aids.
- Speeches will be presented in class and will continue until all have been given.
- You must turn in a written outline of your speech after you deliver it.
- You will be graded on the following rubric. (The numbers at the top of each category are the point value of each category.)
